MRA Pledge

As a member of the Missouri Republican Assembly, I pledge my loyalty to the traditional conservative principles upon which the Republican party was founded. I will do my part to make sure the Republican Party remains faithful to these principles and help elect candidates who keep faith with them once elected

I pledge to promote and defend traditional family values and our nation’s Christian religious heritage against the assault led by the corrupting forces of secularism, humanism and political correctness

I pledge to stand up for the sanctity of human life and support efforts to defend unborn children against the scourge of abortion. I will support the traditional definitions of marriage and family~ and oppose efforts by the radical feminist and homosexual movements to impose their immoral lifestyle views on our society. I will defend the authority of parents to make decisions regarding the education and raising of their children

I pledge to uphold the free enterprise system as essential to our American way of life. I understand that entrepreneurship and small business owners are the backbone of our nations economy and will work to liberate that economy from unnecessary taxes, regulations, and liability laws which stifle both freedom and prosperity. Will also oppose any effort to undermine private property rights

I pledge to support only trade policies which serve the national interest and which keep faith with American’s working families and small business owners. Free trade must always mean fair trade

I pledge to safeguard the right of all Americas to equality of opportunity, regardless or race, color, creed, or religion while also rejecting the reverse discrimination of affirmative action and quotas

I pledge to defend the sovereignty of the United States of America, the rights of the several states, and the integrity of the Constitution. I pledge to support a strong national defense, securing our borders against illegal Immigration, respect for law and order, locally-controlled schools, traditional academic instruction, our Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms, welfare reforms which promote individual responsibility, parental freedom of choice in education, English as a national unifying language of our country, honesty and ethics in government, fiscal responsibility, and constitutionally-limited self government

An Overview of The 7th MRA

The 7th Congressional District’s MRA Chapter Overview as well as the Mission and History of the NFRA

Overview

The Missouri Republican Assembly (MRA) is a member of the National Federation of Republican Assemblies. The MRA works to unite conservatives, both economic and social, whose interests range from tax cuts and reform to national defense, from pro-life to education concerns, from Second Amendment to national sovereignty, and for the advancement of traditional Republican values.

The MRA was founded in 1996 by a group of Republican leaders that were concerned with the push by liberals to divorce the Republican Party from the successes of the Reagan revolution. We, as an organization, will actively support Republican candidates that MRA members endorse as the best in a particular contest. In this way we will hold the Republican Party to the conservative principles espoused by President Ronald Reagan.

Mission

The NFRA carries out our mission in two primary ways:

First, Republican Assemblies work to recruit committed conservative activists to become involved in the Republican Party, earning and taking leadership positions within it and displacing RINOs ("Republicans in Name Only") who do not reflect the overwhelming majority position of Republicans across America. And we put a lot of stress on earn: we know that conservatives, while active in election campaigns, have long ignored the party structure in much of America. We mean to redress that wrong, increase the ranks of activists, revitalize our Party, and turn it into an electoral powerhouse Americans can believe in once again.
Second, we do what other Republican organizations almost never do: we endorse candidates in contested primaries, so rank-and-file Republicans can know who the true conservative candidates really are. In the spring of every election year, liberal Republicans learn to love Ronald Reagan; ten minutes after clinching the nomination, they remember they love Teddy Kennedy more. We shuck the corn, with highly competitive grassroots endorsing conventions at which candidates must secure two-thirds of our delegates’ support to win. And when we’re done, there’s no question who is who.

Why do we do these things? Because the Republican Party is, well, a republic: its people have the ultimate say, if they organize and make their voices heard. And because it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see that the current generation of Republican leadership has shipwrecked the Party Reagan built.

If you’re the kind of person who’s tired of talking about conservative principles and sick of whining about what’s wrong with the Republican Party, join us . The time for talk is past: it’s time to act.

History of the NFRA

A History of the National Federation of Republican Assemblies

Should conservative activists in California work together with conservatives in Nebraska or Maine? Does the actions of a state committee in Florida work against the interests of conservatives in Idaho? When the Republican National Committee targets a race in New Jersey, does that help or hurt a conservative running for congress in Arizona?

It was these questions, and others, that brought conservative leaders from 12 states to Las Vegas, Nevada in December, 1996. After the disaster of the November, 1996 elections, where the Republican nominee for president didn’t read, and stated he refused to read, the Platform of the National Republican Party, it was time for conservative activists from around the nation to respond.

The organizational meeting of the National Federation of Republican Assemblies was called by the California Republican Assembly (CRA) and the Arizona Republican Assembly (ARA). The CRA had been formed in 1932 and incorporated in 1934 as a grass root group of "Young Turks" to take back the GOP from special interests and the elite in California.

By 1964, the Goldwater conservatives had taken over the CRA and made it the leading organization in California for conservative activists. It was in the forefront of the Goldwater and Reagan (for Governor) campaigns, Proposition 13 (property tax reform), Prop. 187 and 209, among many others. The CRA has had an important impact on the California Republican Party; the last three chairmen of the CRP have been active members of the CRA.

The Arizona Republican Assembly was chartered in 1993, with more than 200 people at the organizational meeting.

Together these groups made a strong impact on elective politics and issues. By 1996 it became apparent that this had to go national, since the Republican Party was under attack by RINOs (Republicans In Name Only). So a call to conference went out, and such national conservative leaders as Phyllis Schlafly and Michael Ferris attended.

It was decided to form a national organization, state by state, of conservative leaders and activists. This would be a "bottoms up" organization, with the strength and the power in the community chapters, not the state or national organizations. These groups would endorse conservative Republican candidates for city council, school board, other local partisan and non-partisan seats, as well as state legislative, constitutional and congressional seats.

Committees were formed to create Principles, Bylaws and the administrative direction of the NFRA. In August, 1997, representatives from 18 states met in St. Louis, Missouri to officially form the National Federation of Republican Assemblies. Since then, more than 40 states have either chartered or organized a Republican Assembly, endorsed hundreds of candidates, have held national board meetings and conventions. We have been co-sponsors of the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), have appeared in the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, the Washington Times, the Los Angeles Times, as well as many other national journals and newspapers.

We understood that liberals, candidates, money and ideas, travel from state to state. Conservative activists knew that outsiders were coming into their state to work and control the political agenda. Yet, there was no network of conservatives working on a grass roots level to respond to the challenge, investigate, pass information to activists, and to network with other conservatives. Unlike the D.C. based organizations, this was, and is, to be a grass roots, community-based organization that stands for principle, and where precinct workers could be found, trained and activated.

We have an elected national Board of Directors. This Board consists of officers and three representatives of each chartered Republican Assembly. Resolutions and endorsements are based on the Principles of the organization, rather than temporary political winds. We are not chartered by the Republican National Committee, but we do work within the framework of the Republican Party.

Today, on a national level, we are working with other conservative groups to create a strong strategy to invigorate the movement inside and outside the Beltway. In the states, we are active with the State GOP, legislators, and other activists to form coalitions to promote Constitutional government. On the local level, we are involved with school boards, city councils, and local issues of both an economic and moral nature.

As a national organization, we were able to bring information to conservative activists on a local level through our thrice weekly e-mail newsletter, THE CONSERVATIVE REPUBLICAN. This was started a few months after the founding of the NFRA under the title FRAMING THE ISSUES. Today, we connect with conservatives directly and instantaneously through social media, including Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. The NFRA also helps bring financial and up-to-date campaign resources and technologies to our local clubs.

We are the "Republican Wing of the Republican Party" . The NFRA stands for principle, the United States Constitution and for conservative values. Unlike the RINOs, we know that more government means less freedom.

For Constitutional Freedom, join the NFRA.

Our Beliefs and Principles

Unalienable Rights: We believe that man’s rights flow from the Creator and the rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness are unalienable and cannot be legitimately granted or rescinded by men.

Judeo-Christian Foundation: We believe in the guiding force of moral law as expressed by the Judeo- Christian ethic and contained in the Holy Scriptures of these historic faiths.

Self-Government: We believe that the only answer to the current moral decline in our nation is a return to the beliefs and standards of morality which our Founding Fathers placed into the Constitution. With the framers of that document we believe President Adams’ statement that "Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people: it is wholly inadequate to the government of any other." We understand that the concept of self-government begins with governing one’s self first, then family, community, state, and nation.

Education: We believe in the rights of parents to a quality education for their children. We support parental choice to create competition among the schools. We must insure that no school or teachers’ union can compromise the education of our children or advance a particular political agenda at the expense of our future generation’s educations.

Taxes: We believe that the federal tax system is abusive to the American people while discouraging investment and growth. We believe in growth-oriented tax policies which would gradually eliminate punitive income taxes and move our tax system toward that originally established by our Founding Fathers.

Free Enterprise: We believe in the free enterprise system as the best hope for men and women to fulfill their economic hopes and dreams. We know that the free market is the most efficient and the least costly system to deliver the highest quality goods and services at the lowest price to the consumer. We will support only those who support the free enterprise system through legislation to reduce or eliminate intrusive government intervention in the marketplace.

Family: We believe that the traditional American family, consisting of persons related by blood or adoption through the marriage of one man and one woman, is the cornerstone of our American society, and the government is duty bound to protect the integrity of the family unit through legislation and tax policies.

Sanctity of Life: We believe that the preborn child is a human being possessing the same unalienable rights as all other people and entitled to the full protection of the law.

National Defense: We believe in a strong and consistent national defense. We believe in victory over, and not accommodation with, tyranny in any form or philosophy.

Right to Keep and Bear Arms: We believe in the unqualified right of our citizens to keep and bear arms and in the Second Amendment’s guarantee to individuals of that right.

Victims’ Rights: We believe in the concept of victims’ rights over the rights of any criminal. We support a system of restitution as a deterrent to crime and recidivism.

Term Limitation: We believe that public service is a privilege. We support term limits for public officials, not as an ideal but as a necessity to dissuade career politicians. It is the people who should rule, not an elite with little accountability.

National Sovereignty: We believe in nationalism, and that Government’s first concern is the welfare and protection of the American people and their sovereign right to rule themselves without deference to any foreign or international body. We do not believe in trade protectionism but support political leaders who will adopt policies that create fair and competitive trade.

Decentralized Government: We believe in the supremecy of the power of individual citizens over the powers they choose to delegate to the state, a principle enshrined in the Tenth Amendment. We believe that only small government truly serves the needs of the people and that those governments closest to the people are most responsive to their needs. We affirm the principle of Federalism, and its establishment in the form created by the Founders.

Fair Tax Info

The FairTax Act (HR 25, S 1025) is nonpartisan legislation, and is so simple that it is only about 133 pages long. (The current tax code is roughly 70,000 pages long).
What it does:

  • Abolishes the IRS
  • Abolishes all federal personal income taxes
  • Abolishes all federal corporate income taxes
  • Abolishes all federal business income taxes
  • Abolishes all gift taxes
  • Abolishes all estate taxes
  • Abolishes all capital gains taxes
  • Abolishes all alternative minimum taxes

  • Everyone keeps almost their entire paycheck (HR 25 does not affect state and local income taxes)
  • Retirees keep their entire pensions
  • EVERYONE now pays taxes (no more loop-holes)
  • Gives an Advance Refund of the amount of the tax people would pay on purchases of basic necessities
  • Gives companies an incentive to keep jobs here in America, rather than shipping jobs oversees

  • Brings transparency and accountability to tax policy
  • Closes all loopholes and brings fairness to taxation
  • The FairTax taxes us only on what we choose to spend on new goods or services, not on what we earn
  • The FairTax is a fair, efficient, transparent, and intelligent solution to the frustration and inequity of our current tax system

We must defend the United States Constitution

28 Principles of Liberty!

Principle 1 - The only reliable basis for sound government and just human relations is Natural Law

Natural law is God’s law. There are certain laws which govern the entire universe, and just as Thomas Jefferson said in the Declaration of Independence, there are laws which govern in the affairs of men which are "the laws of nature and of nature’s God."

Principle 2 - A free people cannot survive under a republican constitution unless they remain virtuous and morally strong

“Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters."
Benjamin Franklin

Principle 3 - The most promising method of securing a virtuous people is to elect virtuous leaders

"Neither the wisest constitution nor the wisest laws will secure the liberty and happiness of a people whose manners are universally corrupt. He therefore is the truest friend to the liberty of his country who tries most to promote its virtue, and who ... will not suffer a man to be chosen into any office of power and trust who is not a wise and virtuous man."
Samuel Adams

Principle 4 - Without religion the government of a free people cannot be maintained

"Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports.... And let us with caution indulge the supposition that morality can be maintained without religion."
George Washington

Principle 5 - All things were created by God, therefore upon him all mankind are equally dependent, and to him they are equally responsible

The American Founding Fathers considered the existence of the Creator as the most fundamental premise underlying all self-evident truth. They felt a person who boasted he or she was an atheist had just simply failed to apply his or her divine capacity for reason and observation

Principle 6 - All mankind were created equal

The Founders knew that in these three ways, all mankind are theoretically treated as:
  1. Equal before God
  2. Equal before the law
  3. Equal in their rights

Principle 7 - The proper role of government is to protect equal rights, not provide equal things

The Founders recognized that the people cannot delegate to their government any power except that which they have the lawful right to exercise themselves

Principle 8 - Mankind are endowed by God with certain unalienable rights

"Those rights, then, which God and nature have established, and are therefore called natural rights, such as are life and liberty, need not the aid of human laws to be more effectually invested in every man than they are; neither do they receive any additional strength when declared by the municipal [or state] laws to be inviolable. On the contrary, no human legislation has power to abridge or destroy them, unless the owner [of the right] shall himself commit some act that amounts to a forfeiture."
William Blackstone

Principle 9 - To protect human rights, God has revealed a code of divine law

"The doctrines thus delivered we call the revealed or divine law, and they are to be found only in the Holy Scriptures. These precepts, when revealed, are found by comparison to be really a part of the original law of nature, as they tend in all their consequences to man’s felicity."
William Blackstone

Principle 10 - The God-given right to govern is vested in the sovereign authority of the whole people

"The fabric of American empire ought to rest on the solid basis of the consent of the people. The streams of national power ought to flow immediately from that pure, original fountain of all legislative authority."
Alexander Hamilton

Principle 11 - The majority of the people may alter or abolish a government which has become tyrannical

"Prudence, indeed, will dictate that governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes ... but when a long train of abuses and usurpations ... evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such government, and to provide new guards for their future security."
Thomas Jefferson in the Declaration of Independence

Principle 12 - The United States of America shall be a republic

"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America And to the republic for which it stands...."

Principle 13 - A Constitution should protect the people from the frailties of their rulers

"If angels were to govern men, neither external nor internal controls on government would be necessary.... [But lacking these] you must first enable the government to control the governed; and in the next place oblige it to control itself."
James Madison

Principle 14 - Life and liberty are secure only so long as the rights of property are secure

John Locke reasoned that God gave the earth and everything in it to the whole human family as a gift. Therefore the land, the sea, the acorns in the forest, the deer feeding in the meadow belong to everyone "in common." However, the moment someone takes the trouble to change something from its original state of nature, that person has added his ingenuity or labor to make that change. Herein lies the secret to the origin of "property rights."

Principle 15 - The highest level of prosperity occurs when there is a free-market economy and a minimum of government regulations

Prosperity depends upon a climate of wholesome stimulation with four basic freedoms in operation:
  1. The Freedom to try
  2. The Freedom to buy
  3. The Freedom to sell
  4. The Freedom to fail

Principle 16 - The government should be separated into three branches

"I call you to witness that I was the first member of the Congress who ventured to come out in public, as I did in January 1776, in my Thoughts on Government ... in favor of a government with three branches and an independent judiciary. This pamphlet, you know, was very unpopular. No man appeared in public to support it but yourself."
John Adams

Principle 17 - A system of checks and balances should be adopted to prevent the abuse of power by the different branches of government

"It will not be denied that power is of an encroaching nature and that it ought to be effectually restrained from passing the limits assigned to it."
James Madison

Principle 18 - The unalienable rights of the people are most likely to be preserved if the principles of government are set forth in a written Constitution

The structure of the American system is set forth in the Constitution of the United States and the only weaknesses which have appeared are those which were allowed to creep in despite the Constitution.

Principle 19 - Only limited and carefully defined powers should be delegated to government, all others being retained by the people

The Tenth Amendment is the most widely violated provision of the bill of rights. If it had been respected and enforced America would be an amazingly different country than it is today. This amendment provides:

"The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."

Principle 20 - Efficiency and dispatch require that the government operate according to the will of the majority, but constitutional provisions must be made to protect the rights of the minority

"Every man, by consenting with others to make one body politic under one government, puts himself under an obligation to every one of that society to submit to the determination of the majority, and to be concluded [bound] by it."
John Locke

Principle 21 - Strong local self-government is the keystone to preserving human freedom

"The way to have good and safe government is not to trust it all to one, but to divide it among the many, distributing to every one exactly the functions he is competent [to perform best].
Thomas Jefferson

Principle 22 - A free people should be governed by law and not by the whims of men

"The end of law is not to abolish or restrain, but to preserve and enlarge freedom. For in all the states of created beings, capable of laws, where there is no law there is no freedom. For liberty is to be free from restraint and violence of others, which cannot be where there is no law."
John Locke

Principle 23 - A free society cannot survive as a republic without a broad program of general education

"They made an early provision by law that every town consisting of so many families should be always furnished with a grammar school. They made it a crime for such a town to be destitute of a grammar schoolmaster for a few months, and subjected it to a heavy penalty. So that the education of all ranks of people was made the care and expense of the public, in a manner that I believe has been unknown to any other people, ancient or modern. The consequences of these establishments we see and feel every day [written in 1765]. A native of America who cannot read and write is as rare ... as a comet or an earthquake.”
John Adams

Principle 24 - A free people will not survive unless they stay strong

"To be prepared for war is one of the most effectual means of preserving peace."
George Washington

Principle 25 - "Peace, commerce, and honest friendship with all nations -- entangling alliances with none."

Thomas Jefferson, given in his first Inaugural Address

Principle 26 - The core unit which determines the strength of any society is the family; therefore the government should foster and protect its integrity

"There is certainly no country in the world where the tie of marriage is more respected than in America, or where conjugal happiness is more highly or worthily appreciated.”
Alexis de Tocqueville

Principle 27 - The burden of debt is as destructive to human freedom as subjugation by conquest

"We are bound to defray expenses [of the war] within our own time, and are unauthorized to burden posterity with them.... We shall all consider ourselves morally bound to pay them ourselves and consequently within the life [expectancy] of the majority."
Thomas Jefferson

Principle 28 - The United States has a manifest destiny to eventually become a glorious example of God’s law under a restored Constitution that will inspire the entire human race

The Founders sensed from the very beginning that they were on a divine mission. Their great disappointment was that it didn’t all come to pass in their day, but they knew that someday it would.

"I always consider the settlement of America with reverence and wonder, as the opening of a grand scene and design in Providence for the illumination of the ignorant, and the emancipation of the slavish part of mankind all over the earth."
John Adams

I commend these principles to you. Freedom-loving citizens, young and older, find that memorizing these principles proves to be a valuable asset in their defense of our liberty.

Sincerely,

Earl Taylor, Jr.

Blunt_bio.jpgSaint Charles, MO -- (February 27, 2010) - The Missouri Republican Assembly endorsement convention has unanimously endorsed Congressman Roy Blunt for the Republican nomination for United States Senator. The vote was taken during Missouri Lincoln Days in Saint Charles, Missouri, with the endorsement convention recalling the words of Thomas Jefferson who said, “One man with courage is a majority.”

William S. Magill, Chairman of the Missouri Republican Assembly, stated; “Congressman Blunt is a statesman whose moral compass steadfastly points to true North. A Statesman, who at the core of his very soul, understands that the Liberty of which the Constitution of the United States speaks includes the freedom and right to life, the freedom to be raised and nurtured in a traditional family, the freedom to choose our own destiny, unencumbered by unnecessary Governmental interference, and the freedom of death with dignity. Congressman Blunt is not only a friend of genuine conservative values; he is a valiant warrior for them.”

“This election is not complicated," Roy Blunt said. "Missourians understand that Washington is broken and if the country continues to be driven in the wrong direction by Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and Barack Obama it could become irrevocably broken. We must and we will lead the charge to restore conservative principles and protect our Constitutional Liberties in Washington. Missourians want their federal government to do the things it should be doing well, and then get out of the way so Missourians can create jobs and prosperity. I am honored that the Missouri Republican Assembly is endorsing my candidacy and I look forward to working with principled conservatives throughout the state to help more Missourians achieve the American Dream in an America as envisioned by our Founding Fathers.”
